Atom AE Kinucks hit 500 mark in WOAA play-offs
The Atom AE Kinucks hit the 500 mark in WOAA play-offs with two wins and two losses, following a 2-1 home ice victory over the BCH Ice Dogs, last night.

The WOAA play-offs commenced with a 2-1 Kincardine victory over the Mount Forest Rams, thanks to goals from Carson ‘The Jet’ Boettinger and Sam ‘The Flow’ MacTavish. This game also saw the steady defensive play of Lauren ‘Lidstrom’ Thede get some well-deserved recognition, as he collected her first assist of the season!

This winning start was followed up with back to back defeats against the Milverton Drives Rep team, whom it has to be said provided some very stiff opposition. However, although they might not have taken the chances that they were given, the Kinucks did give it their all with David Ulak and Aiden Berkman in particular, delivering whole hearted skating displays.

These games lead into last nights’ match-up and a return to winning ways, against the BCH Ice Dogs. The Ice Dogs would take a first period lead in this game, only for Kincardine to fight back in the second period when Noah Page forced a puck into the net, ably assisted by Sam MacTavish and Caydence Gibson.

The game remained hard fought throughout, but Kincardine would claim the game winning goal thanks to Sam MacTavish, in the third period. MacTavish fired through the goalies pads, feeding from a Cam Fletcher assist. The Kinucks would hang on for a victory thanks in no small part to a Jared Petrie save in the final minute of play. This was a bullet wrist shot which actually smashed part of Petrie’s goalie mask, when he stood up to the incoming shot.

The Kinucks are now focusing on the next game against the Mount Forest Rams and a, fast approaching, end of season, which has been a great experience overall.
