Peewee Presto Crest Local League take home A2 Silver Championship
The Peewee Presto Crest Local League team participated in a one day tournament on Feb. 9th in Arthur. It was an 8 team event and the Kinucks faced off against Dorchester first thing in the morning. The Kinucks came out flying in the first minute and pocketed an early goal by Percy Antle. A few seconds later another hit the back of the net from Josh Catelo, assisted by Trent Pletch. Antle got his second of the game a few short minutes later, assisted by Kevin Coady.

The Kinucks rounded out the first period with two more goals, one by Brody Hewitt, assisted by Catelo and Pletch, second by Coady, assisted by Liam Fitzgerald. Nathan Williams defended the net with help from his defensemen Max Colley, Jacob Sylvester and Robert McGregor. Colley had several rushes to the net only to be shut down the Dorchester goalie. Sylvester was small but mighty, not letting anything get buy.

Second period, Coady tipped his second goal of the game, assisted by Fitzgerald. Hewitt also got his second of the game with a hard slap shot, assisted by Catelo and Pletch. Pletch had a pair of goals in the third period, assisted by Coady and McGregor. Final score 9-2.

The boys and coaches were happy with their performance, especially being short a few players.

Second game was a different story against Embro. The opponents were very strong and Kincardine could hardly get any shots. The game ended in a 5-0 loss.

Third and final game was an exciting one against the local hosts, Arthur. Aiden McKay stopped a ton of shots by the opponents only letting in one goal and Williams only letting one in as well. The game ended in a 2-2 tie with a goal by Pletch, assisted by Hewitt, and a goal by Hewitt, assisted by Pletch and Catelo. The tournament rules called for a shoot out. Coady was the first shooter and put one by the Arthur goalie. With McKay in net, the first one slipped by him but he was able to stop the next 3. The next 2 shooters, Catelo and Hewitt were stopped. McGregor, not at full strength due to an injury in the previous game, was able to finish off Arthur in the sudden death shoot out, allowing the Kinucks to take home the A2 Silver Championship trophy.

Great day and sportsmanship shown by Kincardine Peewees. Way to go!
