Atom AE Ends Season on a high note
The Boston Pizza Atom AE team took to the ice for the final time this season in the Aylmer tournament this past weekend.

Our Kinucks came out hard on Friday night in the first game of the tournament against Wallaceburg. They played hard and it showed in the score. The Kinucks took the game 7-0 earning Kwade Beisel the shut out. Goals went to Brock Courtney (2), Tyler Johns, Kane Lee (2), Dylan Chinnick and Graeden Colhoun. With assists coming from Chase Anderson, Graeden Colhoun(2) and Kayne Lee. After a Team party and some mini-sticks the boys got some much needed rest and were ready to play on Saturday morning Vs the Ayr Flames. The first period was scoreless and the parents were on the edge of their seats with the back and forth play. The first goal went to Ayr, this served to fire the boys up in the second period. Brock Courtney scored a beauty with the assists to Bennett Janes and Chase Anderson. Kayne Lee snuck one home with assists to Tyler Johns and Blake Edwards. Tyler Johns finished the Kinuck scoring with the assist from Spencer Humble to give the Kinucks the 3-1 win and first place seed for the finals rounds. Excellent job by the defensive team for keeping the score low. On Sunday Morning the kinucks faced Prince Edward County. The game was back and forth, goal for goal and a ton of penalty minutes accumulated. It was the kinucks that ended up on top with the 4-3 win. All four goals came from Kayne Lee with assists to Spencer Humble, Thomas Harmsworth, Kwade Beisel and Brock Courtney. This gave the Kinucks the birth in the finals the same afternoon. The Kinucks faced off against Mount Bridges in the gold medal game on Sunday afternoon. The boys sported the black and orange face paint and looked ready for war. Mount bridges scored first in the opening period, then it was back and forth for the second period with no scoring, but lots of penalty minutes. Kincardine finally tied it up early in the third with a goal from Kayne Lee. Minutes later the Kinucks struck again on a goal from Dylan Chinnick assisted by Chase Anderson and Tyler Johns. Late in the third, Mount Bridges scored again to tie the game up and take us into overtime. In 4 on 4 OT the kinucks were on the losing end of a penalty decision, Kwade Beisel stood on his head to keep the puck out of the net for the duration of the penalty. Then with just 34 sec left in OT, Mount Bridges was awarded a penalty shot after a scrum around the net. The game ended with a 3-2 Loss to Mount Bridges. The Kinucks came away with the silver medal and had a lot of fun doing it. This was an amazing year for the boys, they had an excellent season, won the WOAA Second Entry Championships, raised money for local charity with a bottle drive, enjoyed a team trip to an Attack Game, and had some great coaches to learn from. Thank you to our coaches, Ryder Colhoun, Gregg Courtney, Steve Beisel, Bill Harmsworth and our manager Adam Janes. And thanks to the team for all of the great hockey fun. #2 Kayne Lee, #3 Chase Anderson, #7 Dylan Chinnick, #8 Myles Courtney, #9 Tyler Johns, #10 Thomas Harmsworth, #11 Graeden Colhoun, #12 Blake Edwards, #13 Jesse Page, #14 Bennett Janes, #15 Spencer Humble, #16 Brock Courtney, #17 Kole McCormick and #30 Kwade Beisel. Way to go team!
