West Grey Tournament
The Beisel Contracting Midget AE team traveled to Durham this past Sunday for their first tournament of the year.

The boys started off the day with a closely contested match against Essa.  Kincardine opened the scoring late in the first period when Kyle Hunter picked up a pass from Brendan Murchie and netted a shorthanded goal.  The lead didn’t last long as Essa evened the score on the power play.  Kincardine regained the lead early in the second when Jared Allingham picked up a loose puck and beat the Essa goalie.  Kinuck goalie Lucas Jorg faced a barrage of shots but held the lead until Essa scored midway through the third period to push the game into overtime.  A fast and furious pace by both teams ended in the dying seconds of the overtime period when Essa scored for the 3-2 win.

The Kinucks second game against Hanover was no less dramatic.  Kincardine withstood some early pressure before grabbing the lead on another Allingham goal, set-up by Corey Howse and Devon Husk.  After Hanover tied the game early in the second, Chase Meurs scored to regain the lead, with assists going to Howse and Hunter.  A late goal by Hanover tied the game going into the third.  Both teams defences tightened in the final period and we were off to overtime again.  The game opened up with both teams having scoring chances to end the game, with Kincardine goalie Jordan Gauthier standing tall in the final minute to push the game into a shootout.  The goalies dominated in the shootout, pushing the teams to six rounds until Hanover came out on top for the 3-2 win.
