Kincardine Sobeys Peewee Girls Rep B Team Quarter Finalists At OWHA Provincials
On Friday April 10th, the Kincardine Sobeys Peewee Girls Rep team travelled to Toronto to participate in the 2015 OWHA Provincial weekend.

Their first game was at the Scotia Pond at 8:15am versus Russell Castor River Coyotes.  In the first period with 5:28 on the board the Coyotes managed to slip one past goalie Marcelle Platt to make it 1-0.  Into the second again the Coyotes came out stronger with 2 more goals to make it 3-0 to end the second period.  With yet one more goal in the 3rd, the Coyotes seemed unshakable, but with 2:58 remaining, Jessica Anderson off her own rebound found some twine and made it 4-1 to get the Kinucks on the board.  Then with 1:58 remaining, Kinucks, Aysha Machan sent the puck home to make it 4-2 for the Kincardine girls.  Unfortunately time ran out and the Russell Castor River Coyotes took the win 4-2.  This team went on to win the gold medal in the championship round.

Game 2 again, played at the Scotia Pond was versus Woodstock Wildcats.  The Kinucks did not like the results of their first game and came out strong.  With 8:07 on the clock, Kinucks, Lauren O‘Hagan put one between the pipes to make it 1-0 for Kincardine.  Then with 5:56 on the clock, Kinucks Georgia Tanner off a stellar pass from teammate Aysha Machan, made it 2-0.  As time wound down the girls tired out and Woodstock put the pressure on to find the net which they did with 3:11 left to make it 2-1 Kinucks.  The second and third period remained uneventful in scoring but saw lots of puck action.  The Kincardine Kinucks earned the win 2-1 over the Wildcats.

With their hair braided and game faces on, the Kincardine Kinucks woke up early to play Game 3 versus the Whitby Wolves.  The Kinucks again, came out strong in the first period.  With 3:59 remaining, Lauren O‘Hagan shook the twine to make it 1-0. As time was finishing up in the first and with 1:26 remaining, Kinucks Heidi Allen planted the puck in the net to make it 2-0.  The second period saw end to end action but with no goals scored. The Wolves fought back with 8:41 remaining in the 3rd to make it 2-1.  With no further scoring action, the Kinucks earned a 2-1 win.

Game 4 was against our rivels the Sarnia Lady Sting.  This was going to be a tight game not to mention a tough one.  With seconds ticking down in the first period, Kinucks Lauren O‘Hagan, with 2.5 seconds on the clock, snapped one past the Lady Sting‘s keeper to make it 1-0 for the Kinucks.  This goal proved to be to game winner for the Kinucks as the second and third periods remained scoreless.  The Kincardine Kinucks were now moving on to the quarter finals which would be against the Nepean Wildcats.

Game 5 and the third game that day was going to be tough for the team of 10 skaters. The Nepean Wildcats were well rested and had only played one other game that day.  The game saw end to end action but with 5:19 left and a scrum in front of the Kinucks net, the Wildcats managed to sneak one in to make it 1-0 Nepean.  The girls skated hard and worked the puck, but with no luck of recovering. Nepean would move on to win the bronze medal. This was the end of a great tourney and season for the Kincardine Sobeys Peewee Girls Rep team.  Congrats on all your efforts ladies!
