Montgomery Ford girls advance to Provincials and attend the Walter Gretzky Brantford tournament
The Montgomery Ford Midget girls had a very busy past week with their 2 last provincial playdown games to play on Tues & Wed evening and the 34 th annual Walter Gretkzy tournament in Brantford to compete in .  On Tuesday night the team went to Ripley to play the Saugeen Shores "C" team in a playdown game, having a successful night and demonstrating All Ontario hockey play winning confidently 4-0 . On Wednsday night the team met with South Bruce "C" team to play their final playdown game in the D/C . This was a game when the girls took complete charge and scoring goals in all 3 periods for a 7-0 victory and giving Sofia Tomani her 4th shut out from the 5 playdown games that the team was required to play!

With this win being the final game, the team swept the series with a 28 goals for and 1 against and the team is now on their way to All Ontario girls Midget "C" Playdowns in the GTA area on April 10th weekend to represent Kincardine Minor hockey and try to bring a medal home . Their will be competeing in against 16 teams in their division being sent from 12 different leagues and regions. The team will be working on staying active till then with some exhibition games and they also have their WOAA year end league tournament on March 27th weekend.

This past weekend the team and parents went to Brantford this weekend to play in the 34th annual Walter Gretzky girls tournament with several levels and dividsons, there was easily over 220 teams competeing. In our divison there was 9 teams and a odd number. We had full intensions on bringing our game to Brantford yet the team has played a little more hockey than usuall this past week and when you have a handful of players still recovering from flu and cold symptons this no doubt can affect your game. All the games were short periods as well, 10-10-10 minute periods and had some less than average officiating issues ! We sometimes are late starting our game and this likely would sum up the reason the Kinucks came up short in a couple of games. Their 1st game was on Friday @ 2:00pm , losing to Lucknow 3-2 as Lucknow really had a great game with us and certainly wanted to win more than us !   Now with this loss and only a 3 game round robin pool, the team needed likely to win the next two games to have a change to advance to the finals ! Well we played Almaquin Gazelle on Friday night in Brantford @ 10:00pm , a good northern team . Once again with short periods there is no room for error of time to catch up if you get to far behind ! The Gazelles scored 1st in the 1st period and we tied it up 1 minute after, then in the 2nd period the Gazelles took a 2-1 lead and maintained that lead till about 4 minutes left in the 3rd and the Kinucks scored to tie the game, however because of our earlier game loss,  we had to bank and count on a win, we took a chance with a 1:30 left on the clock and pulled the goalie to try for the win, ended up this backfired on the coaching staff and we lost the game with only 12 seconds left in the game , a heartbreaker . As it turned out the tie would not have adavnced us anyways ! The girls then got back to the motel late with disappointment and went to bed as the team had to be up early @ 7:00 am for a 9:30 game in Brantford and with us in Cambridge motel, there was a little driving. We played our 3rd game vs Lambton Shore predators and the girls all had smiles and fun as they beat this team in a close 1-0 game to re gain our spirits!  The team then checked out of the hotel and finished the day with some shopping and returned to Kincardine to watch and cheer the Midget boys on at the D/C. The girls have a game Wed night in the D/C @ 8:30 vs TCDMHA , a league make up game.
