Montgomery Midgets compete in WOAA year end playoff tourney
The Montgomery Ford midget girls "C team are winding down their season ! The team went to Walkerton this past thursday to have a exhibition game vs Walkerton girls "B" team to warm up for the up coming weekend. The girls worked on practices over March break and this paid off with a 3-0 win in Walketon ! This past weekend was a big weekend for the Midget girls competeing in their year end WOAA league playoff. The league has 15 midget girls team which are divided into 3 categories. From Kincardine we have our Midget H/L team coached by Keith Battler and Our Midget "C" team coached by Gord Kemp.

The tournament took place in Tara & Chatsworth arena's this past weekend ,  there was a H/L or house league group of 5 teams, there was 6 teams in a intermidiate "C" group and there were 4 teams in the elite "B" group, of which our team was placed in this grouping . All our games were played in the Chatsworth, starting @ 10:00am Saturday our 1st game was vs Bruce Peninsula "B" team. The tournament had a unique point scoring system , aquiring 2 points for a win & 1 for a tie ,also a point awarded per period won ! With this in mind , each period counts for a point! Well our girls had a mission to take care of in the 1st game and that was to get the monkey off our back as all 4 prior tournaments this season , we managed  to lose that 1st game in all of them, well this cruse or bad luck omen was about to change for our team with a ceremony of burning to stuffed monkey doll after the 1st game providing we didnot lose ! With keeping our team bust over march break with extra practices and hard work, the girls really played a fast and in control game, we out shot Bruce tow to one, even had scored a goal which was called off in the 3rd period as the net got kicked off ??? The game ended up in a tie 0-0 and give our team 2 1/2 points. This game also meant we didnot lose and the monkey officially was off our back. Between games the team had a picnic lunch and took part in the burning monkey ritual in Chatsworth arena parking lot as our 1st two games were close and back to back and had no time to travel for food. The 2nd game @ 1:00pm vs Walkerton "B" team was a must win to stay alive and needless to say all cylinders were firing! The Kinucks confidently won 5-0 and almost had a perfect game , yet there was one period was a tie, so the team aquired 4 1/2 points out of a possible 5. The 3rd game on Saturday was vs Markdale "B" team @ 5:00pm, our nemisis and this team has really a pefect record in the WOAA - undefeated . Our girls really give them a run for their money keeping the game close for the 1st & 2nd period, starting into the 3rd period 2-2 was promising, however a quick breakaway from # 7 from the Markdale team changed the game and answered with 2 more shorlty after for a 5 -2 loss , with # 7 scoring all 5 goals for Markdale. We did win the 2nd period for 1 point this game, however after the other teams played against each other , we didnot aquire enough points to advance to the final on Sunday , which was Markdale vs Bruce Peninsula . The way the team played this weekend was a good test and warmup for our provincial play down weekend coming up on April 10th weekend down in Oakville to compete in the girls Provincials for "C" dividsion midget girls with 16 teams all winning their own playdown series from all over the province.
Goals scored on the weekend were Megan Stewart-Kemp with 1 and Ashley McConnell scoring the reast, 6 goal weekend !! Thanks also for Emma Swift to play up with the team from the Bantam team to help as we were missing defensive players .
