First Tournament of the Season
Last weekend the Areva Bantam Girls hit St. Thomas for their first tournament of the season! The girls were anxious to start an exciting weekend and see what the bigger cities had in store for them!

Our first game was against St. Thomas late Friday evening. 18 seconds into the game Brittany Norman sends a beautiful pass to Rebecca Cuillerier who then fires it in from the blue line to score our first goal of the tournament and her first goal of the season! Although we did out shoot St. Thomas 20 to 12, they finally landed one in on the 3rd period to tie the game up 1-1.

Our second game was Saturday morning against South County. Both teams came out very strong and seemed pretty evenly matched. However in the 2nd period South County was able to shoot in 2 goals, despite the valiant effort made from our goalie Faith Catalan. Although the girls fought their best to come back in the 3rd period, were unable to ending the game in 0-2 loss.

Kincardine's Areva Bantam Girls faced their biggest challenge on their 3rd game Saturday evening against London's Devilettes Allen. They were a tough team and they meant business, but our girls were not intimidated! It was a battle back and forth until London was finally able to score in the 2nd period. However in the 3rd period Brittany Norman was able to give them a taste of their own medicine and tied the game for us 1-1!

Sunday morning was an early game but the girls were rearing to go, enjoying every moment of this tournament! This day we were facing London's other team, the Bandettes! One again in the 1st period, one of our defense-women Abby Swann fired the puck like a rocket into the goal, leading us into a 1-0 score. The 2nd period was more evenly matched and no goals were to be found. However in our 3rd period our Areva Bantam Girls were all over London. Ariel Luinstra showed us her patience by lingering long enough in her skate up to their goalie causing her to make a wrong move, then firing one into the net unassisted. London was able to get one past us, making the score 2-1 until Slayde Miller bounced one in assisted by Brittany Norman, letting us win the game 3-1!

Although we were 1 point shy in going to the final games, our girls played excellent games! You played with heart and great sportsmanship. We'd also like to mention our Areva Bantam Girls were able to play a clean tournament, there were no penalties given to us the entire time! WELL PLAYED!!
