Completion of Regular Season Play - By Leanne Thomson
The Kincardine Atom AE Kinucks have finished regular season play in first place defeating the Listowel Cyclones AE in Listowel on January 2nd. Listowel started off the scoring in the first period but 2 penalties by Listowel set up a 5 on 3 for Kincardine with Dylan Chinnick tipping in a shot from Spencer Humble on a pass back out from Jesse Page.
Less than 11 seconds remaining in the first period saw Page set up another one with Alex Colley-Aquino blasting it past the Listowel goalie to make it 2-1. Listowel opened the scoring in the second period to tie it up. Colley-Aquino scored another on a beautiful pass from Charlie Hall -Elwood which was also assisted by Blake Edwards. Our blue-liners were involved on the next goal with Murray Collins over to Thomas Harmsworth who fired it towards the net with Edwards finishing it off for the goal. Listowel answered back to make it 4-3 at the end of the second. The third period started off with another pass out by Page to the blue line when Humble fired a hard shot on net and this time Maddox Burgess sniped in the rebound. The final goal of the game was on another perfect pass by Hall-Elwood, finding the stick of Edwards to make it 6-3. Hats off to Jack Anderson who made some key saves against the Cyclones. Our stellar coaching staff led by Sebastien Garneau, assisted by Ian Colley, Manny Page , trainer Bill Harmsworth and manager Don Edwards have worked hard to pull this team together with the team finishing the regular season with a 15-1 -0 record. The hockey moms are looking forward to the OMHA and WOAA playoffs, and the upcoming Peterborough tournament. Go Kinucks!
