Pee Wee Kinucks fall in Bill Batten Quarters
The Legion sponsored Kincardine Pee Wee Kinucks would deliver another hard working display at last weekends Bill Batten Tournament, in Exeter.

Following up from a tie and a loss against Listowell and Walkerton respectively, the Kinucks looked to build upon some solid early performances. The 2-2 Listowell result was particularly pleasing, against a team that hadn't even conceded a goal for several games! Building on an excellent goal tending performance from Ryan Tanner, the goals would come from the impressive Brett Hagan, with assists being attributed to Jacob Cuillerier and Cam Fletcher.

Continuing their hard skating style of relentless forechecking and backchecking, any victory over this Pee Wee Kinucks team will have to be hard earned.

Opening the tournament with probably their best performance of the season, the Kinucks would grind out a 2-1 victory over the Aylmer Flames. A result based on sweat and effort would see goals come from Cody McLelland and Brett Hagan, although a stellar goal tending display from Gordie Reaume is also worthy of a mention. Holden Stevenson would also collect an assist in this match up.

Next up would be a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Highland Storm. Last years OMHA Pee Wee Champions, the Storm were certainly strong opposition, but the kids from Kincardine skated with them throughout. The consolation goal again came from Cody McLelland, assisted by Jordan Biesel the all action Captain for the Kinucks.

The third game was a must win for Kincardine and that's what they'd deliver. However, they'd again prove to be a team not for the faint of heart, getting through with a 1-0 win over the host team, the South Huron Sabres. The game winning goal came from Kayne Lee, firing the winner just like he did the last time these two teams faced one another.

The journey would end at the quarter finals, when the Kinucks would again face the Aylmer Flames. Unfortunately, having already beaten their opposition once, its probably fair to say that some complacency resulted in Kincardine trailing by two goals early on. They would fight back in their typical hard working style, with goals from Jordan Beisel and Kayne Lee, with assists going to Carson Fletcher and Jacob Cuillerier. In a heartbreaking period of sudden death overtime, the Flames would break away from a Kincardine shot on their net, to snatch victory over the Kinucks.

Again, not particularly the result that this Pee Wee Kinucks team were looking for, but they certainly seem to be developing a hard working style that can only bode well for the future.
