Lakeside Chevrolet Bantam B Lower Lakes Girls in Ancaster!
A successful weekend in every sense. The girls made it to the Semi-Finals vs. Orillia and despite a tough battle lost 1-0.

The Lakeside Chevrolet Kincardine Kinucks Bantam Rep Girls B team travelled to the Ancaster Avalanche Falls Shootout tournament Oct 23-25, 2015.  Game 1 was against Rochester Edge, NY.  First period play brought us three goals; a top shelf by Slayde Millar with assists to Kate Voskamp and Lauren O’Hagen, the second goal was a sweet deke by Lauren with assists to Abbey McCormick and Jessica Gouthro and the third goal was on a breakaway by Paige McLelland with an assist to Emma Dixon.  Second period play our girls also dominated but the score remained unchanged after two post ringers by Jessica Gouthro and Emma Twolan.  Slayde landed a hooking penalty.  The third period brought a powerplay top shelf goal by Emma Twolan which was assisted by Georgia Tanner.   Laura Fohkens received an interference penalty and Kate decided she needed company in the box soon after.  Stellar performance by goaltender Marcelle Platt during the 5 on 3 penalty kill.  Final Score was 4-0 and the MVP went to Lauren O’Hagen.

Game 2 vs Bluewater Hawks demonstrated a strong Kincardine presence although Bluewater scored on a rebound goal.  The Kincardine girls had many great scoring attempts but it was difficult to break through Bluewater’s strong defense.  A second goal was scored against us in the third period so ending with a 2-0 loss.  Georgia received the MVP award.

Game 3 vs the host team, Ancaster Avalanche, saw back and forth action creating much excitement in front of the net.  A powerplay opportunity was quickly evened out when Lauren received a slashing call.  Then Claire headed to the box as Lauren left on a body contact call.  It wasn’t until the third period that the scoring started.  The first goal wasn’t counted so that got the girls riled up and Laura Fohkens scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway soon after.  A few minutes later Claire Hunsburger got the second goal assisted by Emma Twolan and Brittany Norman.  Emma Twolan completed the scoring on a power play with an assist to Georgia.  Final score 3-0. Marcelle was awarded MVP.

Game 4 was against league rival Orillia Hawks although they had not seen league action to date.  Orilla scored with a top shelf shot in the first period and a lob over the goalie and another goal scored against in the second period.  The final period brought our only goal, unassisted, by Georgia and our lone penalty by Emma T.  Final score 3-1 loss.  MVP went to Jessica.

Game 5 was a rematch with Orilla in the semi-final.  Period one was a warm up time and the scoring began in period two with a bar down then tip in to confirm it by Georgia and assists to Slayde and Emma T.  The second goal went to Emma T shorthanded on a breakaway.  Penalties went to Claire, Abbey and Georgia.  Marcelle had many brilliant saves and was given MVP for the 2-0 win.

Game 6 was the championship match (or should I say rematch) against Bluewater Hawks.  Period one saw a power play from a body contact call but no points.  Period two held penalty kills from a trip by Abbey, a slash by Maddie Gallant and a crosscheck by Lauren.  Bluewater scored the lone goal with a 5 on 3 play.  Period three also brought a penalty to the scoreboard for Slayde with a hooking call but we were soon evened out with a Bluewater penalty.  Kincardine had a 5 on 3 power play opportunity as well but with no results.  A 1-0 loss was taken well by the girls and they received a well deserved second place.  Final MVP went to Emma Twolan.  Excellent hockey girls that made your fans proud!
