Lakeside Chevrolet Bantam B Girls Meet League Rivals at Kitchener Lady Rangers Fall Fest
The Bantam B Girls travelled to Kitchener for some exciting hockey action. A highlight of the weekend was meeting up with a league rival, the Orillia Hawks.

Game 1 on Friday vs Markham-Stouffville Stars first period action saw a power play but no scoring opportunities. Slayde Millar scored on a 2nd power play within a flurry of action in front of the net.

Kincardine’s 2nd goal was scored in the 2nd period by Claire Hunsburger (just returning from the injured list) with a sweet top shelf shot after several good Kinuck attempts. Assists went to Maddie Gallant and Slayde Millar.

Emma Dixon was put in the box for a tripping call in the 3rd period giving Markham the opportunity for their first goal. Maddie Gallant netted one with Paige McLelland getting the assist. A power play from a Markham tripping call led to a nice tip in for Laura Fohkens which was followed closely by a quick shot for Brittany Norman with the assist going to Slayde Millar. Kate Voskamp received an unintentional head contact penalty with less than a minute remaining.

Final score 5-1. MVP to Slayde Millar.

Game 2 vs Southpoint Stars started off with the Stars scoring on a rebound goal in the 1st period. Kate had a nice shot from the point but no success. A beautiful pass from Lauren to Laura netted the Kinucks their first goal with assist to Lauren O’Hagan. A power play from a Stars' body contact call led to a few good attempts but no goals. A 2nd power play from a Star's roughing call also yielded no results. Good solid defense and goaltending. The Kinucks left the game tied 1-1 and Abbey McCormick was awarded MVP.

Game 3 Saturday morning was against our rival team, the Orillia Hawks. We welcomed Georgia Tanner back with her thumb cast. With one minute in, Orillia scored. There was alot of back and forth action and several great cchances by the Kinuck girls. There was also continued good pressure by both teams in the 2nd period. And who cannot mention the awesome saves by Marcelle Platt. A collision on the ice put Abbey McCormick in the box for body contact which lead to a 2nd goal for Orillia. The 3rd period brought a lot of action starting with a quick goal for Slayde Millar assisted by Lauren O’Hagan. And another goal soon followed by Lauren O’Hagan to tie the score up. Assist going to Maddie Gallant. And a third goal by Jessica Guothro from the point put the Kinucks in the lead. Assist to Slayde Millar. And lastly a fourth goal by Georgia Tanner led to excitement in the stands. Assists to Paige McLelland and Abbey McCormick. Abbey was given a slashing call and there was great defensive action by the Kinucks during the penalty kill. Final score was 4-2. Way to go pulling up those orange & white socks and showing who was boss! MVP was awarded to Paige McLelland. (assists will be added to this article shortly).

For Game 4 Emma Twolan was welcomed back from the vacation list. This tough game saw the Kinucks vs Sarnia Sting. It started off with a quick goal for Sarnia. And a second goal came soon after for Sarnia who was dominating the play. Second period action saw a power play for Kincardine with several scoring opportunities but no success. This was quickly followed by a penalty kill but no change in score. Great even play this period. Period 3 brought a quick goal for Sarnia. A power play came as a result of a hit to the head. The Sting stung us in the end 3-0 but our girls needn't hang their heads; they played well against a strong team who went undefeated this tournament. MVP went to Katie Voskamp. Girls finished the weekend with 2-1-1.
