Peewee girls win regional Silver Stick
The Kincardine Sobeys Peewee girls B rep team was back in action again this weekend and went undefeated against some very tight competition at the Saugeen Shores regional Silver Stick. The girls started out the weekend with a warm-up game on Thursday night against Saugeen Shores and caught  the victory bug early with an impressive 7-0 score. The opening game of the tournament saw the Kinucks up against the team from Mitchell. The girls opened up an early lead in the game when Cassidy Colhoun put one in from Maddie Duncan and Hailey Allen. Mitchell answered right back with one of their own, but the girls were undeterred and in the middle of the opening period Cassidy restored the lead from Hailey and Laura Mangotich. In the third period, the girls turned it up a notch and saw a goal by Victoria Krulicki assisted by Mikhayla Bowes and Vanessa Hodgins come early on. While on the power play, Cassidy again added to the talley with her third of the game assisted by Maddie and Vanessa. Victoria finished up the scoring in this game for the Kinucks when she stole the puck and scored an unassisted goal to make the final score 5-2. Next up for the girls was their arch nemesis, Walkerton. This game lived up to the hype and was probably the most tightly played game of the weekend. A big nod has to be given to the defensive core of Lauren Jolley, Nicole McLeod, Laura Mangotich and Dakota Smith along with some stellar goaltending from Morgan Baker in this game for keeping Walkerton off the scoreboard altogether. The only scoring in this clash was from Victoria at 33 seconds left in the 3rd, when she went in unassisted deeking out two defenders and putting it high over the goalie`s shoulder for the 1-0 win. In the afternoon game against Lucan the scoring was again started by Kincardine with a goal from Maddie assisted by Dakota and Laura. Lucan answered right back to tie it up. Victoria gave the girls the lead back in the second period with assists to Mikhayla and Vanessa, bu
