LEGION PEEWEES ONE POINT FROM OMHA TITLE

“I got a feeling that tonight’s gonna be a good night” by The Black Eyed Peas boomed out of the Davidson speakers on Wednesday night as the Legion Peewees took on Wasaga Beach in game 3 of the OMHA Final. And it was a good night as the Kinucks pulled off a 4-2 win to lead five points to one in the series, having won two games and tied one.

Both teams were tense in the first period in front of a nearly full house. After a big save from Ethan Primeau and surviving a Wasaga clear break on net, Kincardine grabbed the lead near the end of the period when Dalton Hayes potted one from a scramble in front of the net. The Kinucks had a goal waved off right at the start of the second period for a player in the crease before Wasaga equalised through Niklas Garlund four minutes in. Two goals from Garrett McFadden before the end of the period put them back in front at 3-1.

The Kinucks had some great opportunities in the third but couldn’t get the puck past some strong goaltending by Branden Walden in the Stars’ net. After Kincardine killed off their fourth penalty of the night, Jacob Sararas got the reward for the threat that Wasaga continued to pose by pulling one back in an action packed final minute. Then with 3.8 seconds left on the clock Ethan Skinner restored the Kinucks two goal advantage with an empty netter.

The boys will travel to Wasaga Beach on Saturday needing just a point to clinch the OMHA Championship. Way to go team!
