Saturday morning the Novice LL #1 Green team geared up to face Novice LL #4 Black team. With the mighty net minder Jake Wall taking his turn between the pipes, Green Machine came out strong. The fans saw some solid offensive play by Blake Edwards with a quick rush to the net, supported by team mates Mitchell Hackett,Tyler Johns and Bryan Nicholson and Troy McFadden on defense. Tyler 'fancy footwork' Johns kept up his usual high level of physical play and also had a few early scoring chances.
The second period showcased some serious girl power with Taylor Carney and
Ela Jones working hard on the defensive end of the game. Morgan Talbot was
always ready in front of the net waiting for that perfect pass. Graeden Colhoun
saw a nice chance to breakaway but Team #4 had a goal tender who didn't want to
give up anything, and was able to stop the blistering shot. It was clear that
these teams were equally matched as the score at the end of the second period
was still 0-0.
Both teams were eager to put a score on the board in the third period.
Halley Pletch and Sarah Mullin worked hard along the boards fighting for
possession of the puck. With time slipping away and only 5 min left in the
period, the Black team was able to put one past the Green keeper, breaking the
tie.
With only minutes left Liam Hunter had a beautiful scoring chance and
desperately wanted to tie the game up for his team ...alas the buzzer went and
the score remained 1-0 for Black team.
Congratulations to both teams for a great game!!
