Fighting For A Spot At Provincial Championships!
Coming off of a Silver Stick Championship, the Kincardine Bantam Girls got back to business in Ripley on Tuesday Feb 11 by facing South Bruce in the first game of provincial playdowns.

In a very chippy game the girls came out of the gate fast and furious but could not seem to buy a goal. Finally in the second after some nice passing from Madison McBride and Rainor Kuz, Georgia Fields potted one.  Kuz got the second goal on assists from Payton McCormick and Julia McGregor to open up a little breathing room. Thanks to strong defensive play from Madison McBride, Julia McGregor, Alice Thorpe and Callie Martyn plus some stellar work between the pipes from Sophia Tomaini, who earned the shutout, the girls carried the lead till the end.
Final score 2 - 0

In their second playdown game, the girls faced the Capitals on a snowy Thursday night in Walkerton this time with Cassidy Murray in goal.  The game was a tight checking affair with neither team getting many scoring chances. Lilly Freiburger, from Alayna Card, opened the scoring in the second period. In the third period, on a nice feed from Ariel Luinstra, Card had a nice goal through the legs of the Walkerton goalie to open up the lead.  Walkerton closed the gap in the third period but the Kincardine girls held on to win 2-1.

Capping off the successful start of Playdowns, on Friday February 21st in a pre-game ceremony the girls were honoured by the Kincardine Bulldogs for their Silver Stick win.  Let's hope the girls keep the momentum going as the girls play Georgian Shores (in Meaford on Feb 22), TCDMHA (Davidson Centre on Feb 27) and Saugeen Shores (Davidson Centre on March 3rd).   Go Kinucks Go!!
