Kincardine Sobeys PeeWee Girls Rep B Team Tame the Flames!
On February 21st the Kincardine Sobeys PeeWee Girls rep team travelled to Goderich for an exhibition game with the West Huron Wave PeeWee Girls BB team to keep the girls in shape for the next series of playoffs with the Vaughan Flames.

The game started with end to end action and the Kinucks working hard to get the puck.  With 8:34 left in the first period, the Wave managed to out skate the Kinucks and snuck one past Kincardine’s goaltender, Marcell’e Platt to give them a 1-0 lead.  This didn’t stop the braided beauties...with 9:41 on the clock in the second period, Kennedy Farrell, affiliated to the Kincardine B team, ripped one past the Wave’s goalie, assisted by Lauren O’Hagan to tie the game up 1-1.  Less than a minute later, Kincardine’s Georgia Tanner assisted by Jess Anderson and Heidi Allen, earned the go ahead to give the girls a 2-1 lead.  On a roll and with 8:34 on the clock, Aysha Machan, assisted from Georgia Tanner and Lauren Thede added a point to the board for the Kinucks to end the second period 3-1.  The third period again saw lots of fast skating and skill from the girls.  With the clock running down and 6:56 left of the game, defencewoman, Emma Dixon, unassisted, sent the puck home to finish off the game giving the Kincardine Sobeys PeeWee Girls B Team a 4-1 win over the West Huron Wave PeeWee BB team.

On Sunday, February 22nd, the Kincardine Sobeys PeeWee rep B team faced off with the Vaughan Flames at the Kincardine Davidson Centre to play game 1 of series 2 in playoffs.  With their braids done and sticks taped, the girls showed up with their game faces on and ready to take on the Flames.

The first period saw coast to coast action and lots of aggressive play, but nothing Kincardine’s Claire Hunsburger couldn’t handle when, off a pass from Lauren O’Hagan , rattled the Flames twine to make it 1-0 with 3:26 remaining in the first.  Into the second period, Kinucks Lauren O’Hagan, whose stick was hot, wristed on past the Flames tender, unassisted, to make it 2-0 for the Kinucks.  With the time winding down in the second, and 2:19 remaining, Aysha Machan, assisted by Claire Hunsburger, put one top shelf to give the Kincardine Sobeys PeeWee a 3-0 lead ending the second period.  Just into the third period, Lauren O’Hagan , on a mission assisted by Joanne Page, sent the puck home with her second goal of the game to make it 4-0.  Not finished and with 2:52 on the clock, off a precision pass from Lauren Thede, Lauren O’Hagan, finished the game with a final goal to earn her a hat trick and a 5-0 win for the Kincardine Kinucks.  A great start to series #2!

On Saturday February 28th, the Kincardine Sobeys Peewee Girls travelled to Vaughan Sports Village to play game 2 with the Vaughan Flames.

The first period saw some end to end action and with 3:31 left on the clock, Kincardine’s Claire Hunsburger, off a pass from Heidi Allen, was able to bury the puck past the Flames goaltender to give the Kinucks a 1-0 lead.  Into the second period, with 8:25 left in the period, Kinucks Aysha Machan took the rubber coast to coast and shook the Flame’s twine to make it 2-0.  Machan was on a mission and was able to poke the puck into the net with 3:23 left on the clock to end the second period 3-0 for the Kinucks.  The third period saw lots of aggressive action but no points to be earned to give the Kincardine Sobeys Peewee Girls the win and send them on to the final round against North York on March 7th in Ripley.
