Tussle in Teeswater!
Submitted By Walton on Saturday, December 05, 2009
A see saw battle between the evenly matched teams of Kincardine Novice LL2 and their Teeswater counterparts results in a hard fought draw!

A Herculean battle was waged in the village of Teeswater today ... millions oblivious in the surrounding towns and cities of Ontario.  Still, the Kincardine Novice LL2 team quietly descended upon the local arena, teeth gritted, eyes ablaze ... seeking to pull together and determined to win.  Parents gripped the steering wheels of the minivans, extra large black Tim Hortons' fuelling the charge.

It was a hard fought first period, with plenty of back and forth action.  The volume in the Teeswater arena swelled to 100+ decibels, only safe for the legally deaf or those with approved hearing protection.  At the first buzzer, it was the accursed Teeswater squad with the lead by a single marker.

Salvation!  Laura F broke away from the pack, midway through the second period, and jammed the puck past the opposing netminder.  A five minute delay ensued while the referees repaired the scorched netting.

The remainder of the second and balance of the third periods saw a plethora of chances from both teams, near misses and markers by Drae P, Matty W, Abby S and the omnipresent Ethan P.  Two breakaways by the driven Teeswater squad were cast aside, like so much garbage to the curb on Monday morning, byour brave netminder Trent.  Heart medicines were administered and no fewer than nine parents had to be revived during the third period alone.

When the ice shavings settled, and the players made their way back to the dressing rooms, exhausted but triumphant, the scoreboard showed it all square at 1-1.  Until next time Teeswater!  Strong games noted for Andrew, Joanne, Kevin and Georgia, who is giving the whole team a lesson on how "the boards are your friend".
