first game of the year
Great start to a great year for the pee-wee LL girls
For the first game of the season (October 22, 2009)the Pee Wee girls LL team was a very exciting game against Tiverton. First period Tiverton had a couple breakaways where Sophia Tomaini stood her ground and made some great saves. First period went back and forth with huge saves from both ends.
In the second period Jorie Elliott was like a rock on the blue line, Tiverton had a hard time getting past her. Tiverton managed to open the scoring with a 1-0 lead. At 9:46 in the 2nd period Hayley Sorbara opened the scoring for Kincardine with a nice assist from Madisyn Johnston to make it a 1-1 game. Tiverton then again scored to make it a 2-1 lead with under 5 min. left in the second. Kelsey Padfield had a breakaway with in the last few minutes of the period made a great shot but was denied by the Tiverton goalie.
At 8:42 in the third Jorie Elliott scored 1 of her 2 goals of the night with Madisyn Johnstons second assist to tie the game 2-2. Sophia Tomaini made some more great stops, but Tiverton managed to get 2 behind her to make it a 4-2 lead with under a minute to go,with one of them coming from a kincardine penalty. With 42 seconds left in the game Mackenzie Nashiem got one past the Tiverton goalie with an assist from Eden McFarlane to make it a 3 to 4 game.
Kincardine was playing their hearts out to get a tie. Jorie Elliott took a pass from Gracie Stewart and skated her way from the blue line and made a beautiful shot to tie the game with only 9 seconds left to make it a 4-4 tie and to get her second goal of the night. Hard work was preformed by all. If this is the way they are going to play were in for a great year.
