First Game of the New Year

It was an auspicious start for the first game of the year for the Kincardine Old Stars Bantam LL team in
Seaforth; the snow was blowing, a number of players weren’t on the ice for various reasons (penalties and holidays) and the shirts were left behind.
It didn’t really matter as the boys could have played in their pjs for this one – they often appeared to be asleep and then just as the parents were ready to nod off, someone would wake up, start moving and we would have a burst of often productive activity.
Seaforth opened up the scoring early in the game. Kincardine answered the call when Aidan Calcutt passed the Logan Shewfelt who then performed a classic wraparound. Kincardine got their second of the night when Jordan Bell picked up his own rebound, passed to Brent McDonald who knocked it in. Shewfelt, freshly released from the sin bin, picked up the puck aptly passed by Scott Smith and scored Kincardine’s third goal. Seaforth then chimed one in on a text book face-off play. Shewfelt completed his hat trick with the assist awarded to Bell. Seaforth then scored on a Kincardine line change and then tied it up with 2 minutes left in the game. The final score was 4-4. Thank goodness there is always another game around the corner!
