Silver Stick Weekend
The Kincardine Kinucks Novice C-CRG team participated in the International Silver Stick Tournament this past weekend and returned home having played some of their best games yet.

The first game of the round robin would see the Kinucks up against the Walkerton Capitals.  The girls really enjoy their games against the Capitals and both teams stepped out on the ice ready for some hockey.  The Kinucks would win in this game with a goal in the first by Parker Talbot with assists from Aera Armstrong and Sadie White.  Makayla Fyke and Parker Talbot would each score in the second with assist work from Sophie Rock, Marley Dalcourt, and Kayla Rumbold.  The third would see two more goals by Parker Talbot with assist work from Sophie Rock.  Goalie Chloe Kirkconnell would receive a game-puck for her shut-out in this game and the girls would take some rest time in preparation for the evening game.

Friday evening the Girls would be matched up against the strong Mitchell Meteors.  The Girls have played Mitchell before in tournament and the games are always fast-paced, challenging on both sides, and make for some really great hockey.  Each period would be hard fought and there would be many shots on net.  In the end, the Kinucks couldn’t slide one past the outstanding Meteor Goalie, and the game would end 3:0 in favour of the Meteors.

On Saturday morning, the Girls would meet up with TCDMHA at the Plex.  It would be another game played well by the Kinucks and the girls would show off their development earned in practice with steady defensive back-checking stick handling.  The Girls would come out ahead in this game earning them a spot in the semi-finals.  Parker Talbot would score in both the first and second period with an assist in the first from Kala Rumbold.  Sophie Rock would score in the third with assists from Gabby Garneau and Aera Armstrong.  Final score 3:0 for the Kinucks.

The semi-final would see a rematch on Saturday evening with the Mitchel Meteors.  The Girls have been on fire with their efforts in match-ups with some incredibly strong teams during their tournaments and this game wouldn’t be any different.  The girls worked tirelessly, relentlessly, and put all of their skills, efforts, and heart into the game.  While the Kinucks would remain scoreless against the mighty Mitchel goalie, the game play would be one that would highlight just how talented these girls truly are.  To all of the Girls and the Staff, Congratulations on all your hard work this weekend.  As always, you make your Fans proud.
