The sixth game in the Play-down series had
the Girls visiting the Saugeen Shores Storm at the Southampton Coliseum Arena.
The first period was busy, with the Kinucks scoring mid-way through with a nice play up center ice by Gabby Garneau, assisted by Lilly Pace. Soon after, Parker Talbot would catch a nice breakaway, putting the second Kinuck goal on the board for the game. Makayla Fyke had been working hard and had taken many tries at the net, and she wouldn’t let the first period end without a goal; with 32 seconds to spare, she drew the period’s last goal for the Kinucks, ending the period 3:0.
In the second, the girls had a fair bit of work digging for the puck. Sadie White would dig for the puck from mid-way through a Storm play to score for the Kinucks. The game would continue, with plays advancing up both ends. The Storm found control of the puck and took a breakaway down center ice and scored on the Kinucks bringing the score to 4:1. The Kinucks rallied, and worked hard to maintain control; the period wouldn’t end before Gabby Garneau would showcase her exceptional stick-handling skills on a breakaway for the Kinucks, ending the period 5:1.
In the third, both teams working hard, the Kinucks would widen their lead again with a nice breakaway by Makayla Fyke. The Storm would respond just a minute later, however, with a stealthy play at the Kinuck’s net, digging hard and scoring their second goal to bring the score to 6:2. One final goal would be placed in the net by the Kinucks in this game, by Emma MacDonald, assisted by Makayla Fyke. Fans were responsive on both sides as both teams worked hard. Another great game, Kinucks!! You make your fans proud! Final score: 7-2.
