Game 3 - February 27, 2017: Kincardine vs Owen Sound
The third game in the Play-down series had the Girls hosting the Owen Sound Ice Hawks at the Davidson Center Arena.  Coming off of their previous weekend’s gold-medal showing at the Walter Gretzky Tournament, the Girls were ready to continue the play-down series.

The first period would see the Attack score early in the first.  The Girls would respond to the competition, however, and Parker Talbot would score shortly after with an assist from Emma MacDonald to bring the score to a tie.  The Girls would work tirelessly, setting up play after play but period would end on even ground for the teams.

The second period would continue on with plays back and forth.  The Kinucks would set up to take many attempts on the Attack’s net, but the period would end without goal.  It was at this point fans realized they’d been tardy in their game traditions, and opted to get things under way, stat.

In the third period, the Kinucks were alive on the ice, working hard to dig at the boards for the puck, and to set up progressions.  Our Kinucks showed their support of each other, with forwards moving into defensive positions as opportunities presented themselves for defensemen to control the play.  The period would be an active one.  Makayla Fyke would score mid-way with assists from Sophie Rock and Parker Talbot.  Fyke would find an opportunity at a breakaway on her very next shift out for another goal for the Kinucks.  Gabby Garneau would score soon after with assists from Aera Armstrong and Lilly Pace.  Another nice game breakaway would take Parker Talbot to the Attack’s net for the Kinuck’s fifth goal.  The girls would continue to work well together; lots of back-checking and incredible work fighting for control at the boards would keep the Kinucks in control of the period.  Norah Gratto would score with assists from Parker Talbot and Marley Dalcourt; and Sophie Rock would bring in the final game goal with assists from Makayla Fyke and Gabby Garneau.

Well done, Kinucks!!  Final score:  7-1.   See you Thursday for your Game 4 versus TDCMHA.
