The
first game in the OWHA Provincial Play-down series had the Girls travelling to
Owen Sound to play at the JMRRC Arena against the Ice Hawks. After a big weekend including a trip to the
ACC to see the CWHL All-Star game, the Girls were ready to start their playdowns.
The first period would see a fair bit of action end-to-end, and Forward Emma MacDonald would score early in the first with assists from Gabby Garneau and Sophie Rock. Parker Talbot would follow on a nice breakaway with the game’s second goal.
The second period would conclude without goal, but the Girls would execute several nice plays, reading the game well.
In the third, both teams would be actively working to take control of the plays. Makayla Fyke caught a nice breakaway and scored for the Kinucks. The Ice Hawks would respond with a nice flip of the puck to score their first season goal on the Kinucks this season. It was a great play for them and Fans throughout the Arena cheered in appreciation of a play well-made. The final line-up of the game saw Gabby Garneau take the game’s final goal into an empty net with an assist from Emma MacDonald.
Great game, Kinucks!! Final score: 4-1. ~White
