Walter Gretzky Tournament Champs!!!
The Kinucks have returned home from an incredible performance at this weekend’s Walter Gretzky Tournament, bringing home gold and meeting a beloved icon, Mr. Walter Gretzky himself.

The first game took place against the South Huron Sabres at the Burford Arena.  The ice was difficult to read and both sides worked hard to advance the plays.  The first end would be without goals for either side but in the second, the Kinucks would score twice with the same lineup of Emma MacDonald, assisted by Gabby Garneau and Sophie Rock.  The third period would see a single goal from the Sabres, but the Kinucks defensive line would persevere and the Girls would finish their first game with a win.  Final score: 2-1

The Kinucks would meet up with the Lambton Attack on Friday evening.  The Girls certainly had their game faces on and were ready to put their skills to play.  The Girls would show some incredible stick-handling, passing, and game reading in this game.  In the first, Parker Talbot would score with assists from Emma MacDonald and Marley Dalcourt.  Gabby Garneau would soon follow with a second goal assisted by Makayla Fyke and Marley again.  Parker would follow closely with a game third assisted by Kayla Rumbold.  In the second period, the Girls would bring in another three goals, the game’s fourth goal by Makayla Fyke, assisted by Parker Talbot and Norah Gratto.  The fifth by Defenseman Lilly Pace  assisted by Gabby Garneau and Emma MacDonald; and the sixth by Parker Talbot, assisted by Norah Gratto and Emma MacDonald.  In the third period, the game would see one final goal for the Kinucks by Sadie White, assisted by Kayla Rumbold and Aera Armstrong.  Final score: 7-0

The scheduling allowed for some free time on Saturday.  The Girls took advantage of the pool, shopping, and restaurants before their game Saturday evening against Lucan.  It would be another game full of opportunities for the Girls to put into practice their skills earned throughout the season.  Again, stick-handling, passing, and game-reading would provide opportunities for the Girls to advance the plays to their advantage.  The first period would see six goals for the Kinucks:  The first by Makayla Fyke, assisted by Parker Talbot and Alyssa Collins; the second and third by Parker Talbot, assisted by Makayla Fyke and Emma MacDonald.  Gabby Garneau would score the forth assisted by Norah Gratto and Lilly Pace; the fifth by Kayla Rumbold, assisted by Sophie Rock, and the sixth by Makayla Fyke, assisted by Marley Dalcourt.  In the second, the Girls would bring in another two goals:  Lilly Pace would score, assisted by Kayla Rumbold and Norah Gratto, and Parker Talbot with assists from Marley Dalcourt and Sadie White.  The third period would see goals by Parker Talbot, assisted by Makayla Fyke and Lilly Pace; Gabby Garneau assisted by Sadie White and Emma MacDonald, and Kala Rumbold assisted by Lillly Pace and Sadie White.  Final score: 11-0

The Girls would be advancing to the finals on Sunday in the beautiful Wayne Gretzky arena.

The finals took place on Sunday versus the Lambton Attack.  Fans would gather and the Girls would enter the arena in full spirit for their final game.  Both teams were hungry in this final and fans would colour the stands in full support of their teams.  In the first period, Makayla Fyke would score early with an assist from Parker Talbot.  In the second, Norah Gratto would score the game’s second, assisted by Emma MacDonald.  Sadie White would be close behind in the second with the Game’s third assisted by Parker Talbot and Makayla Fyke.  In the third, Gabby Garneau would earn the game’s final score assisted by Parker Talbot and Makayla Fyke.

The Girls are truly fortunate to have such great Coaches and Trainers working with them throughout the year.  Congratulations, Kinucks, on your medal placing this weekend! ~White
