On Saturday Feb 20, Kincardine Atom LL#2 played host to Normanby and WOW what a game. From the very first puck drop it was action, action, action. Coach Dave put out line after line of nothing but talent. The boys and girls gelled as a team to put on a display of possibly one of the best games they played this year.

The first period was full of excitement as Kincardine put on a show of terrific passes lead by Austin M, Brady M, Josh F. They were flanked on the wing by some pretty stellar wingers of Brydon N, Georgia F, Sam C, Liam H, Mark Y ,Tyler D. The Kincardine goalie Liam M, made head standing saves to ensure his team had every possible chance to win the game. Liam couldn’t have done this alone, as his defense Conner D, Justin M, Julia M and Conner B made every effort to make sure that no one was in front of the net to block their goalie’s view. With all the excitement that happened, it was hard to believe that the first period came and went without a goal.

The second period started the way the first period ended. The line Brady M, Georgia F and Tyler D clicked for most of the game but none as important as the play that lead to Kincardines first goal. This all took place as Tyler made a great pass to Brady, Brady took the shot but it was saved by the Normanby goalie but Georgia was there again in her familiar spot and picked up the rebound and drove it home. The fans at the Davidson center went crazy for this goal and wanted more. The Kincardine team did not disappoint and gave the fans what they wanted. With 10:57 remaining in the third period the line up of Brady, Georgia and Tyler were at it again. Making some fancy moves and dippsy doodles, Brady went in all alone and buried it in the net. This gave the Kincardine team something to grin about as they went up 2-0. Unfortunately the penalty bug got to the team as they took two in the third. The next thing you knew it was 2-1, then 2-2. The visiting team caught up with only 33 seconds to play.

OT here we come. Time out was called as both coaches tried to calm their teams down before they started OT. Kincardine won the draw but lost control of the puck and the next thing you knew the game was over, Normanby scored just 7 seconds into OT.

The kids tried their best to eke out a win but it was not there night. No matter the outcome it was a well played game and one of the best they played. All Players deserve a big round of applause.
