FIVE WIN STREAK FOR LEGION PEE WEE REP
Written by Barry Culmer

In their second game on consecutive days on Thursday 17 December, the Legion PeeWee Rep boys hosted the Mitchell Meteors. In a quiet first period, the Kinucks opened up a 1-0 lead on a Garrett McFadden rocket slap shot deflected in by Shane Vollmer.

Helped by a nice Joey Doyle save, the team successfully killed a penalty at the start of the second period, paving the way for Shane Vollmer to hit his second goal of the night, assisted by Sam Culmer. Six minutes from the end of the period, Mitchell struck back on a power play with an impressive top shelf goal. That caused Kincardine to up the pace of their game but, despite ringing a shot off the crossbar, they couldn’t get past a strong Mitchell netminder.

An entertaining start to the third period saw the Kinucks hit the crossbar again. Their pressure around the Mitchell net finally told with Ethan Long scoring five minutes from time assisted by Marshall Smith and Shane Vollmer. Another perfect penalty kill at the end of the period saw the team home with a comfortable 3-1 win. Next up – the Silver Stick Tournament from 27 December!

Parents and boys would like to thank the coaches and trainers - Brian Royle, Curtis Chaput, Lou Battaino and Dane Dunlop - for all their hard work to date and to wish them a happy holiday season.
