Bantam Girls Rep Bring Home Gold in Stratford Aces Tournament
Friday morning, November 13, the girls played their rivals from Walkerton. This was a fast paced game with lots of action at both ends.  Walkerton scored early but the Kinucks answered with a nice goal off the post by Jordan Murchie from Vicky Krulicki and Cassidy Colhoun.  With just three minutes to go Madison McFadden sent Courtney Surridge in alone.  Surridge went shelf gloveside to give Kincardine the lead.  Walkerton responded with just  1:30 to go to make the final 2-2.

The evening game Kincardine went toe to toe with the Tilsonburg Lightning in a back and forth affair.  Scoring for Kincardine was Krulicki from Kristen Derksen and Surridge.  A blistering point shot from
Dakota Smith also found the back of the net.  McFadden had a beautiful tip in from Vanessa Hodgins and Derksen.  Early in the third Colhoun won a quick draw in the offensive zone and deposited the puck five hole.  The scoring barrage ended with a great point shot from Hodgins with the set up from Surridge making the final Kinucks 5 Lightning 3.
Saturday morning’s final round robin game had the Kinucks facing the Wolverines of Wilmot.  The Wilmot goaltender was very sharp, turning away wave after wave of Kincardine’s offensive attack.  Finally,  midway through the second Kinuck Captain  Courtney Surridge was sprung by Laura Mangotich faking deke and roofing one under the bar.  She followed that goal up with another four minutes later.  The girls then tightened the defensive screws and coasted to a 2-0 win.
Saturday night the girls were in the semi final game with the Ilderton Jets. This was a fast paced, well executed game with an early lead from Colhoun short side from Mangotich.  With less than a minute to go,  two quick break out paces sprung Krulicki who had a terrific deke to give the Kinucks a two goal cushion.  Assists going to Mangotich and McFadden.  Derksen salted the game away midway through the second on a nice shot high in the slot set up by Surridge.  Morgan Baker once again was awesome, turning away all shots and coming away with yet another shut out.
Sunday’s final had the Kinucks face off with the Sarnia Sting.  This was a terrific game with end to end action. With goal posts ringing at both ends and  great saves as well, this game could have gone either way.  With one minute to go Courtney Surridge once again came up with a great effort finally beating the Sarnia goalie unassisted. The team then held on with another great save from Baker to take home the championship.  Congratulations Girls.
