MANGOTICH gets the Trick
It was a night when all the odds were against the Miller Midgets, 4 players and coaching staff down with the flu, no practices or games in the past week, and a full and ready Mt Forest team facing the boys on a midweek night.

From the drop of the puck it was obvious the character of this team would be tested as Mt Forest started with a strong fore-check keeping the boys pinned in their own end for the first several shifts forcing Kegan Woodman to make several big saves. After being on the receiving end of some less than legal hits the boys woke up and the Black and Orange found their legs and caught fire. Carson Ellis went strong to the net only to bang home a rebound of the rocket shot from Phil Bernath with the other helper going to Brad Mangotich. The pressure continued into the second period as Mathew Osadca and Garrett Satosek got markers with assists going to Dylan Sayle and Jory Norman. Mangotich finished off the second with a wrister top shelf off a nice feed from Cody Bowes and Norman. Mt Forest fought back with 2 Power Play goals to finish the second and appeared to be gaining an edge as the Orange and black started to show signs of the layoff and lingering illness that had diminished the squad.

The second intermission rest and strong pep talk brought new life, as the team came out focused and determined not to let this game slip away. Dallas Perkins, Brady Collins and Josh Macdonald were strong on the blue line and made accurate passes which resulted in several scoring chances. For the rest of the game it was the Brad Mangotich show, with strong support in the corners from Jacob Siekierski, Carson Ellis and Josh Gauthier he was a man possessed, parking his 6’2” frame in front of the net and finding the corners to notch the final two goals of the game and finishing the night with the natural hat trick, giving the Miller Insurance Midgets the 6-2 victory.

The boys hope to carry their momentum into the weekend as they host the Archie McMillan Midget tournament at the Davidson Center this weekend.  (Oct 28, 2009)
