Kincardine Presto Crest Peewee LL took to the ice against Blyth on Saturday 23Oct2010 in Tiverton for their season opener. A tight game ensued for two and a half periods that showed great potential for the team.
Early in the first period, Owen found Josh alone at the side of the net on a cross-ice pass. Only a great save prevented Josh from capitalizing. On the same shift, Owen found himself in tight alone but bounced the puck off the outside of the post. Blyth then found their legs and pressed hard, only to be stopped by some standout play between the pipes by Alex. Blyth finally scored late in the first to end the period up 0-1.
The second period found Blyth pressing again, resulting in another goal early to go up 0-2. Kincardine then settled down and kept Blyth off the board until a third of the way through the third period when Blyth added three more to make the final score 0-5 in their favour.
Kincardine demonstrated some nice passing through the neutral zone on occasion. There were also signs of good body positioning and good coverage in the defensive zone. Kincardine also managed four quality scoring chances. This all bodes well for future games.
