Kincardine Presto Crest Peewee LL travelled to Wingham to take on Wingham LL1 in a late Monday night game on 08Nov2010. Kincardine’s goal was to continue to build on the improvements in the first few games.
The first period saw some great action. Once again, Alex P. came through with solid goaltending, keeping the score close. Wingham notched the first goal half way through the first. Kincardine replied 30 seconds later when Brady flipped the puck over the Wingham goalie for Kincardine’s first goal of the year. Owen got the team’s first assist on Brady’s goal. Wingham retook the lead minutes later on a power play goal, ending the first period up 2-1.
Good defensive positional play by Kincardine kept shots to the outside. Alex P. was able to see the puck and continue to make great saves. The bigger Wingham team slowly started to break the defense down and managed to score two more goals late in the period, taking a 4-1 lead into the third.
A power play goal by Wingham in the first minute of the third sealed the game for Wingham. Kincardine just seemed to quit playing at that point, allowing another 3 goals to be scored before the end of the game, resulting in a 8-1 victory for Wingham.
Highlights for Kincardine were Brady’s determination to go after the puck among the towering Wingham players, Martin’s aggressive play knocking down Wingham’s strongest player in the corner resulting in Kincardine getting puck possesion and Alex F.’s heads-up passes and well timed rushes with the puck. Other than the let-down in the third period, Kincardine continues to develop and improve in each game. The first goal of the year has been scored. More are now required.
