The Kincardine Sobeys Kinucks Pee Wee Girls Rep team travelled to Howick Township to play the Upper Maitland team Monday 22nd October.
It was 8 minutes into the first period when Abbey
McCormick scored first -netting a nice rebound goal. Rushing defenceman Jessica
Gouthro followed with a close shot that was deflected by the Maitlands
goalie.
The Upper Maitland team skated out in the second
period with more confidence but the Sobeys Kinucks kept up the pressure. Within
2 minutes Lilly Freiburger scored slamming a shot straight from close to the
blue line. Laura Fohkens followed minutes later with a great wrist shot making
the score 3-0. In the third period the Sobeys Kinucks carried on with the
pressure. Defenceman Callie Martyn had some great breakaways and near misses as
did Slayde Millar. Payton McCormick however scored the first goal of the period
followed by goal number 5 by Lily Freiburger , assisted by Abbey McCormick and
Emma Twolan.The sixth and last goal was scored by Callie Martyn on a
breakaway.
Another great shut-out by Rose Pande between the
pipes who was also closely guarded by Katie Voskamp and Alayna Card.
