Five-Alive Kinucks Extend Winning Streak
The Kincardine PeeWee LL2 Kinucks extended their season-opening win streak to five games with a plucky 4-1 win over a rugged South Bruce side at the Davidson Centre on Sunday morning.  The victory places the Kinucks atop the LL2 standings, sporting a sterling 5-0 record while allowing the fewest goals against in the league

Despite this game being a Sunday morning affair, it was anything but a leisurely Sunday drive for a Kincardine side still recovering from a grueling physical encounter with South Bruce only three days earlier.  From the opening shift, the Otters again displayed the grit that had made them such a difficult opponent earlier in the week, playing a rugged style that challenged the Kincardine speed merchants.

In typical Sunday fashion, the patrons barely had time to take their seats when they were on their feet again, a quick strike from the stick of Bailey Pierson providing the Kinucks with an early 1-0 lead.  By the end of the first, golden-handed Pierson had tallied again, countering a marker from South Bruce, with the Kinucks leading by a 2-1 score after one.

With a scoreless second frame settling nothing, the third period saw Kincardine extend their lead; after Liam Fitzgerald was denied on partial break by some solid South Bruce goaltending, Carson Boettinger gathered the rebound and slotted neatly home for a 3-1 lead.  A fourth Kincardine goal from D-man Griffin Potter may have closed the door on the result, but opened the door to a final few minutes of teeth-rattling physical play.  A steady progression of blue sweaters to the penalty box ensured that winning goaltender Aiden McKay was never threatened as time wound down.

Kincardine take their undefeated record on the road to Normanby this weekend for a Saturday encounter with the third-place West Grey Warriors, start time 11:00 am.
