Flying Start for AE Kinucks
The Boston Pizza sponsored Kincardine Atom AE Kinucks are off to a flying start, with only one loss in their first six games. It's a little early in the season to be making any predictions, but it's fair to say that this young group of skaters are laden with talent. Their only loss was against the table topping Mitchell Meteors who scraped by the Kinucks with a 3-2 win, last weekend. In this past week the AE Kinucks twice came up against the Minto Mad Dogs. The Mad Dogs would be tamed on both occasions, as it was the Kinucks who proved to have the most ferocious bite! A trip down to Harriston would see the Kinucks run away with a 6-2 victory.
It was Jack Anderson's turn between the pipes and his performance would be nothing short of outstanding, as he was the foundation on which Kincardine built their win. Murray Collins would grab the early goal in a game where the Kinucks would never look back. The winning recipe seems to be developed on the solid Anderson / Wall goalie partnership, the defensive play of Drake, Bronkhurst, Carnell and Collins, as well as the creative play from centres Kaminski and McDonald. Throwing some spice on top with a combination of grit, speed and skill from wingers Palmer, Hodgins, Desmond, Graham and Fletcher. Capping off a fine week, the Kinucks would again muzzle the Mad Dogs with a 6-3 win at the Tiverdome! A review of the game sheet stats will make Ethan Kaminski's name jump out as he snatched a hat trick with a very impressive offensive display. Beckett Graham, Jordan McDonald and Zak Fletcher would be the others to add goals. In my opinion, Jordan McDonald deserves a special mention as he delivered a 'Captain Marvel' display, that warranted even more than the 1+1 he was already credited on the scoresheet. He delivered a great performance of skill, creativity and effort. Mitchell Desmond would contribute in the assist column along with some of the forwards already mentioned. Maybe one final notable mention would be that of Zak Fletcher. Fletcher would get a goal, two assists, two minutes and even lay a big hit on the referee at one point! A Geordie Howe hat-trick? Is that a Fletcher quadruple? The AE Kinucks are looking strong. my opinion, Jordan McDonald deserves a special mention as he delivered a 'Captain Marvel' display, that warranted even more than the 1+1 he was already credited on the scoresheet.
