TOURNAMENT RULES

1.         CHA rules and OWHA rules shall apply except where listed below.

2.         All Teams must be registered with the OWHA and CHA. All players and team officials must be signed in on the RAMP app by your team manager.

3.         All teams from outside Canada require a Travel Permit, Certified Roster and Medical Insurance.

4.         A welcome package will be available at the front table at the arena where your first game is played. Each arena will have a convener at a table that will be able to answer any questions you have. 

5.         There will be a maximum of seventeen (17) skaters plus two (2) goaltenders allowed per team, as well as a combined total of five (5) coaches, managers or trainers on the bench. A player may play for only one team during the tournament.

6.         All teams are guaranteed 4 games.

7.         We are using the our own tournament website for our official standings and schedule. Teams must be available to play fifteen (15) minutes prior to their scheduled games.

8.         The following rules apply to U9 divisions:

I. Half Ice Format - 4 on 4 plus a goaltender.

II. No scores are kept and no standings are recorded. There are no playoff of championship games.

III. 2 – 22 minute halves, with 3 minute warm up and 2 min break between halves. Both games are synchronized using the same clock. Warmup may be limited to ensure remaining on schedule

IV.  120 second shifts in duration with an automatic buzzer to indicate player change. The clock continues to run throughout the 22 minute half. There will be 2 face offs during the game. 1 to start the game and 1 to start the second half.

V. Players change on the fly, if there are fewer than four players on the bench, the active player(s) designated to stay out for the following shift must tag up at the bench prior to continuing play.

VI. On the buzzer, players must relinquish control of the puck immediately and vacate the ice or tag up at the bench. The new players enter the ice immediately. Failure to immediately relinquish control of the puck or new players entering the ice surface prematurely may result in a penalty (see below) for the offending team.

VII. Goaltender freezes the puck - the official blows the whistle to indicate the attacking team to back off three meters and defending team takes possession. Puck out of play - the offending team backs off three meters and the referee give the non-offending team a new puck.

VIII. Penalties - Penalties will be called.  Referee will explain call to offending player and coach. Teams do not play shorthanded. The player is removed from the shift and another player is added. Penalties that would receive a game misconduct the player is removed for the remainder of the game and another player would be added so the team is still at even strength.

9. No body checking is allowed in any division.

10. All players must wear BNQ Approved Neck Protectors

11. All decisions of the Tournament Organizing Committee are final.

12.  If a team is not able to arrive for a scheduled game due to inclement weather (road closures), they must contact the tournament convener at least 1 hour before the scheduled game time.
