On Jan 3rd Kincardine Atom LL #1 played Wingham for their first game of the year.
In the first period Kincardine showed great defense from Alex Fisk and Josh Farrell, keeping the puck away from Kincardine's goalie Rahul Deshpande. Rahul had his own moments though when Wingham broke through and he was on his toes saving 4 awesome shots on goal. Wingham did pull ahead though sinking one making it Wing ham 1, Kincardine 0 at the end of the first.
In the second Wingham received their second goal at the face off, 2-0 Wing ham. Owen Jones, and Georgia Fields tried diligently to get a goal for Kincardine, but nothing came in the second, Wing ham was too tough.
When the 3rd period began Kincardine wanted to get a number on that score board, Sam Colqahoun finally sunk one for Kincardine assisted by Georgia Fields for Kincardine's first goal, making it 2-1 Wingham. Wingham sunk another, but then out of now where Andrew Leschied pulled a wrap around on Wingham's net making it 3-2 Wingham. Kincardine was not giving up with J.D Gouthro and Hayley Sorbara trying to tie the score. Brady Masur showed determination trying to get another shot on goal, while Kincardine's defense Matthew Johnson, Alex Fisk, and Corbyn Fields tried to hold Wingham off. In the end Winham took the win 4-2; however Kincardine really worked together, and showed awesome skating, and puck handling. Good effort by all!
