Sorbara scores her first goal
Kincardine Atom LL1 hosted the Hanover Atoms at the Davidson Centre January 17th.

Despite being outnumbered by a full line, Kincardine came out with a strong offensive start.   The teams were evenly matched and it appeared the first period would be scoreless, until the last minute and a half.  The goalie had been tested by several great shots and at 1:21 remaining in the first half, Andrew Leschied sailed down the ice and made a shot that made the mark.  On the following face-off, he carried the puck right back to the Hanover net, for a repeat performance, scoring his second goal within seven seconds   Hanover had a three on one opportunity at the end of the period which Alex Fisk deterred by getting right down on the ice.

Kincardine’s Owen Jones opened the second period by taking the puck right off the face off and weaving his way through the Hanover team, made a scoring shot at 9:52.  Kincardine forwards Bryden Nikolac and J.D. Gouthro made great passes throughout the game to move the puck in the right direction.  Brady Masur joined the defensive team of Matthew Johnson, Josh Farrell and Alex who together foiled numerous breakaway attempts.  Rahul Deshpande was every-ready with stick and glove whenever Hanover made it through the defense to take a shot.  The second period ended with a Hanover forward in the penalty box for slashing.

Owen Jones opened the scoring again in the third period off of an assist from Sam Colquhoun.  At 6:37 Hanover scored their only point as the puck trickled over the line into the right-hand corner of the net.  Hailey Sorbara got on the score-sheet with her first goal at 4:13 from a wrap-around pass by Andrew.  Although they were fewer in numbers Kincardine showed their strength with strong offence, defense, and as always, great teamwork.
