Kincardine digs deep in victory over Normanby
It was end to end hockey this past Saturday as Kincardine took to the ice against Normanby in Ayton. The game was played wide open with both teams pushing hard to find that elusive goal.
Kasey B's play was reminiscent of Vesa Toskala in Toronto's 6-3 defeat of Montreal. The Kinucks stuck to their game moving the puck around the ice until Rachel W. pushed the puck past the Normanby net minder at 9:49 of the 1st period. Then on what appeared to be a simple attempt to clear her own zone Ashley B. screamed down the right side before cutting to the center. As Ashley crossed the blue line she fired the puck into the net. In the last minute of of the 1st the Kinucks, Rachel W. from Mercedes B. added one more. The girls had a commanding lead. The second period saw a change in tempo with no scoring from either side. The third opened up with a goal by Normanby. This seemed to change the tide as Normanby would score two more goals to tie the game. The Kinucks dug deep and in the dying seconds of the game Ashley B. scored the winner on a nice passing play from Charlotte B. The Kinucks brought it home 4 to 3 in a hard fought game.
