article by Julia Buchler The Kincardine Hawgs Breath Midget girls are quite a team to keep up with. For those of you who anxiously await news of your favourite team - here is the latest to get you up-to-date.
The November 15th game against Ripley ended in a 4 - 0 score for the Ripley girls. The November 17th game against Saugeen Shores ended in favour of Kincardine with a 5 - 0 score. Goals and assists as follows: Cayly Bellan 2G, Sam Bianco 1G 1 A, Kaitlyn McDonell 1G, Carly Schmidt 1G, Morgan Padfield 2A, Maddie Doerr 2A, Anna McFarlan 1A, Taylor Nashiem 1A, Jenna Rees 1A. On Friday November 20th the girls hosted Upper Maitland and recorded a 4 - 1 win. Kincardine was first to score with a goal by Rees assisted by Schmidt. This was followed by a second for Rees unassisted. The momentum quickly changed with a Kincardine player receiving a five minute penalty and ending her night early. Goalie Kortney Watson kept Kincardine alive in the second period as a second Kinuck player received a two minute penalty leaving the home team at a great disadvantage, quickly capitalized by the Upper Maitland team. The Kinucks played well to get through the rough patch and with the penalties over, the lines back to normal and a change in goalies - Rees assisted by McDonell scored a third goal and a hat was thrown onto the ice. Well done Jenna! The second goalie Meagan McDonald did a great job of defending her net from the agitated Upper Maitland team and in the last few minutes of the game McDonell put the finishing touch on the evening with a goal in the empty net giving a 4 - 1 victory for the Kinucks.
