Hawgs Breath Girls Finish Short of Finals

On the weekend of January 8 - 9 th the Kincardine Hawgs Breath Girls travelled to out of town to compete in the Mount Forest Classic Girls Tournament. The team finished 2nd in their pool just short of earning a spot in the finals held on the 10th of January. Kincardine came out strong in their first game on January 8th, beating Mount Forest 3 - 1.
Jenna Rees scored all three goals with assists going to Carly Schmidt, Cosette French and Maddi Doerr. Game MVP - Jenna Rees. Later that night, the Kinucks met up with their old friends Lucknow for game 2. Kincardine lost this game 3 - 1 with the lone goal going to Cayly Bellan with assists to Morgan Padfield and Schmidt. Game MVP - Kaitlyn McDonell. After the upset to Lucknow, the Kinucks redeemed themselves in game 3 with a 5 - 0 win over Normanby on January 9th. Goals and assists as follows: Rees 1G 2A, Anna McFarlan 1G, Doerr 1G, Taylor Nashiem 1G, Bellan 1G, McDonell 2A, Padfield 1A, Samantha Bianco 1A, Jessica Holmes 1A. Game MVP - Bellan. Later that night Kincardine met up with Woolwich and finished their last game with a 1 - 1 tie. The lone goal was by Rees with assists to McFarlan and Bianco. Game MVP - Megan McDonald. In the end after all the points were tallied - the Kincuks placed 2nd in their pool and ended their visit in Mount Forest. As usual the girls thrilled the crowds and were a pleasure to cheer on. Good work team and special mention to our hard-working goalies Kourtney Watson and McDonald.
