Bantam Rep Boys on Six Game Win Streak
Article submitted by Barry Culmer
Starting a three games in four days schedule, the Kincardine Tim-Br Mart Bantam Rep boys made the road trip to Shallow Lake on Oct 28th. to take on the Crushers.

At the end of an even first period, Kincardine took the lead with just over a minute left on the clock, Brody Hayes slotting home from Geordie Farrell  and Austin Rees. After entertaining end-to-end hockey in the first half of the second, Kincardine’s increasingly strong passing game paid dividends with a three goal blitz in two minutes to break the Crushers. Logan Shewfelt, Payton Dunlop and Jordan Bell were the scorers, assists going to Chase Ambeau, Derrick Bernath and  Shane Vollmer.  The boys eased off in the third, allowing Shallow Lake to pot two goals but scoring two more themselves for the 6-2 victory. Both Kincardine goals came from the hot hands of Jordan Bell, for a hat trick, with assists from Shane Vollmer and Logan Shewfelt.

Shallow Lake came to the Davidson Centre the following night for the back to back game.  With only one goal between the teams for the first two periods this proved to be a feisty one with some unfinished business from the previous night’s game. Kincardine struck first through Brody Hayes, assisted by Shane Vollmer and Sam Culmer. The Crushers tied it up before Shane Vollmer fired home with 31 seconds left in the first for the 2-1 lead. Jordan Bell and Brody Hayes provided the assists. The Tim-Br Mart boys never got into their passing game in this one, allowing Shallow Lake to edge the second period. But several smart saves by Seamus Small kept them off the score sheet. An eventful third period saw Kincardine give themselves some breathing room with Brody Hayes’ second goal of the night, assisted by Jordan Bell and Ethan Long. A nice 5 on 3 penalty kill allowed the boys to hold on for the 3-1 win in an entertaining, tense game with emotions running high at the end after a Shallow Lake player was ejected for a hit from behind.

Finally Hanover came to town on Halloween for a much quieter game with Kincardine skating to a 6-0 win. The Kinucks caught the Barons cold with two goals in one shift inside the first three minutes from Austin Rees and Shane Vollmer, with each also getting an assist plus two assists from Derrick Bernath.  Hanover rallied after the early setback but fell further behind five minutes into the second with another goal from Austin Rees, assisted by Vollmer and Payton Dunlop. Goal number four for the Kinucks came early in the third, a Chase Ambeau slap shot from the point being deflected in by Scott McFarlan. Kincardine rounded out the game in a mirror image of the start with two goals in the final minute and a half from Geordie Farrell and Payton Dunlop, assists to Logan Shewfelt and Brody Hayes. Goaltenders Kevin Chau and Seamus Small shared the shutout with half a game each.
