Kincardine Bantam Reps Meet Goderich Sailors Twice and Net Two Wins!
Article Submitted by Karen Vollmer
Battling stormy weather on Sunday, December 5th, Kincardine parents transported their players to the Maitland Recreation Centre in Goderich for a 5:00 pm start in the first of two exhibition games being played.

Payton Dunlop delivered an unassisted goal on a rush at 5:53 left in the first.  Shortly after, Brody Hayes added a power play goal from Evan Brown to make it 2-0 for Kincardine.   The Sailors popped one in near the end of the second but the Kinucks fought back in the third with Derrick Bernath scoring assisted by Shane Vollmer and Austin Rees.  Scott McFarlane followed up with another goal which was answered by Goderich on the power play.  Geordie Farrell scored the final goal assisted by Hayes ending the game Kincardine 5, Goderich 2.

The following Saturday, December 11th, the Sailors travelled to Kincardine for a 6:15 pm game.  Jordan Bell opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal midway through the first.  Goderich tied it up at 1-1 near the end of the first.  In the second period, solid defensive play and timely saves by Seamus Small kept the Sailors from taking the lead.  Into the third and Brody Hayes delivered a great pass to Bell to make it 2-1.   Typically the game became a bit rougher in the third period and some penalties were taken by both sides.  At 4:25 one of the Sailors scored on a nice backhand to tie it up at 2-2.  Kincardine kept up on the forecheck but yielded no goal until playing shorthanded with 1:11 left to go, Bernath grabs the puck from the corner and drives it to the net from the side for the game winner.  Kincardine 3, Goderich 2.

A quiet week coming up for the boys and then Christmas holidays but no doubt, the players will be dreaming of laptops, iPhones and Silver Stick success.
