Bantam Rep Girls come home with the hardware....
The West Shore Bantam ‘B’ Girls Rep team travelled to Mitchell this past weekend to defend their title in this annual tournament.

They started out the weekend with a game against Goderich which started out with both teams being a little tentative. Kincardine opened the scoring with 4 min. left in the 1st when Cassidy Colhoun put one in with help from Victoria Krulicki. The middle frame was more of the same and ended up being scoreless. The girls found their stride and ended the game with a very strong 3rd period. They got goals from Bowes, Satosek, Jolley and Krulicki to finish with a strong 5-0 win.

The second game saw the girls play South Huron who they dominated from the start with a very consistent game. The 1st period saw unassisted goals from Colhoun and Malorie Woods. The 2nd saw Colhoun again with help from Dakota Smith quickly followed by Hailey Allen assisted by Krulicki. The frame was finished off with a goal by Vanessa Hodgins assisted by Colhoun. In the 3rd their opponent showed a little more spark and managed to get a couple of goals but Kincardine finished out the frame with a goal by Krulicki for the 5-2 win.

The final day of the tournament started out with the girls up against the host Mitchell Meteors and they showed their true form with a second dominating 5-0 win of the weekend. Goals came from throughout the line-up with what was truly a team effort. Most impressive was the play in front of Goalie Morgan Baker with the defence core of Vanessa Hodgins, Laura Mangotich, Madeline Duncan and Dakota Smith turning away and frustrating the Mitchell team on every opportunity for the shutout.

In the final game of the tournament the girls came up against their long time rival Walkerton and the action did not fail to disappoint. Both teams played well with spirited battles for the puck all over the ice. Kincardine showed their attention to detail and defensive patience in fighting off a 5 on 3 late in the 1st to keep the game scoreless. The game turned out to be a spectacular goaltending dual that was won by Baker when Laura Mangotich scored a power play goal assisted by Ashley Boyd and Allen at the end of the 2nd.  The girls will face off against Walkerton again this coming weekend in a regular season game that is sure to be hotly contested.
