Listowel - Blyth - Minto!!!
Reports on first 3 games of the season by Brent Murchie, Maria Riggin and 8 year old Brenna.

The Kincardine Old Stars Bantam Boys LL team traveled to Listowel October 25 for their first road game of the season. The first period was tight checking with Kincardine opening the scoring late in the period when Aidan Calcutt netted a power play goal on a nice set-up by Clint Parker. The Old Stars upped their lead in the second on Calcutt’s second goal, with assists going to Joel Riggin and Corey Howse. The boys let up a bit and Listowel scored twice to tie the game before the end of the second period and then notched the go ahead goal early in the third. Kincardine slowly recovered the momentum and tied the game at three on a goal by Brent McDonald, assisted by Jared Allingham. The game opened up with both teams pressing for the go ahead goal. Kincardine’s aggressive fore check forced a turn over, which Parker pounced on and rifled over the Listowel goalie’s shoulder with 39 seconds to play. A great comeback by Kincardine with the 4-3 victory!

On October 28th, Kincardine hosted Blyth.  Clearly the teams were well matched with end to end play.  As the first period wound down, Parker took hold of the puck at the blue line put it on the net and Calcutt was there to net the rebound.  Owen Hunsburger scored the Old Stars’ second goal in a textbook 3 man pass with Calcutt and Brendan Murchie responsible for the assists. On a roll, Parker took a slap shot from the blue line; Calcutt passed the rebound to Logan Wolfe who lit up the scoreboard.  Blythe then scored – keeping the game interesting.  Kincardine finished the scoring Hunsburger scored on a missed play, with assist awarded to McDonald.  4-1 for the Old Stars.

Friday the 29th saw the Old Stars travel to Harriston for a game against the Minto Mad Dogs.  After a scoreless first period, Kincardine opened up the scoring late in the hard hitting, fast skating second, when Brough fired on the net, McDonald caught the rebound and crossed the puck in front of the net to Braeden Morgan who knocked it into the open side.  The Mad Dogs tied it up with 1 second left on the clock.  Period 3.  Kincardine got the go ahead goal when Hunsburger put it in with a nifty backhander.  Brough picked up the assist.  The Mad Dogs put on the speed bags and tied it with 3 and a half minutes left in the game. Our cub reporter Brenna, age 8 writes sic `` We are all aanshis to see who wins.  Good stop. Good stop.  Good Stop The clock is ticking and where tided 2-2! Congalations to the team!``
