FORD BANTAM GIRLS WIN GOLD!
Montgomery Ford Bantam Girls B Rep team celebrated success with their win at the Aylmer Optimists tournament on Feb 3,4 &5!

The girls started the tourney with 2 wins on Friday, beating   Zorra Fusion 2-1 and later the St. Thomas Panthers 4-3.  Goals were scored by forwards Megan Stewart Kemp (2) Lauren Jolley (2) Hailey Allen (1) and defence Darby Watterworth (1).  Despite one loss 2-1 against the Woodstock Wildcats on Saturday, team spirits were refreshed with laughs and dose of Laser Tag downtown London.  (Eden and Arlene were amateurs but clearly kicked butt – who knew?)

With excellent team work and persistence, the K Town Bantams moved on to the semi final game against Lucan having fans on the edge of their seats! With a tie of 1-1 after double overtime ( Jolley scoring for K Town), the game went into shoot outs with Amber Howald showing nerves of steel in net!  The dual continued shot for shot until skillfully and with great precision Kristen Bell fired hers for the game clincher!

In the finals, Kincardine faced Woodstock once again, but the girls were   FORD FOCUSSED!                   Fast, Optimistic, Revved up and Determined to capture their gold.  While Hailey Allen drove one in the second,   the defence team of Darby Watterworth, Jenna Gade, Billie Patterson and Lara Clubb  were brazen, chasing down opponents and guarding the net.  Lauren Jolley, Mallory Wood, Jorie Elliott and Megan Stewart Kemp showed responsive handling of the puck, shifting gears, cycling the puck well.

K Town fans were watching with excitement just waiting for the nail in the casket.  Kristen Bell answered with a vengeance sealing Woodstock’s fate.  Forwards Eden McFarlane, Kasey Brindley along with their team mates, worked hard to hold on to the lead for the final 5 minutes of play – and victory was realized!  Final score 2-0 for the Ford Bantams!

Congrats as well, to all coaching staff especially Gord, Hayden and Dave on their success and for their diligence and heart, creating a positive experience for the girls!  Results are excellent stats this year!
