Canadian Tire Atom Girls, are Durham Tournament CHAMPS
The 1st game started slow for the girls as they went down 1-0 just a minute in to the 1st period but then responded with 5 goals of thier own to go up 5-1 by the end of the 2nd, Hat-trick by Alyssa Andrews, 1 goal by Libby Fletcher and 1 goal to Laura Fohkens with assists going to Claire Hunsbuger and Katie Voskamp & Slayde Miller. Arran-Elderslie scored their 2nd of the game but that would be it and Kincardine went on to win with a final score of 5-2.
The 2nd game - was a back & forth battle with Saugeen Shores, Kincardine scored lte in the first period Alyssa Andrews, assisted by Georgia Tanner and Slayde Millar to make it 1-0. There was no scoring in the second period, the action was tough in both ends of the ice. The 3rd period saw Kincardine score just 2 minutes in on a goal from Laura Fohkens, assited by Libby Fletcher. Kincardine won the game 2-0, which put the girls into the Championship game. The Third and final Championship game - Saw Kincardine score half way through the 1st period unassisted by Alyssa Andrews, that was all the scoring that was needed to give the girls SWEET Victory to an awesome day. Great defense by Jessica Gouthro, Kaeleigh Heydon, and attacking forwards Emma Twolan, Chloe Page, and Abbey McCormick. Stellar goaltending by Rose Pande with 2 shut-outs.
