Home Hardware Kinucks so close..
Dorchester Dragons 5 - Kincardine Kinucks 3

The third game of the tournament would see the unbeaten Kincardine Kinucks take on the hosting, Dorchester Dragons. Confidence was sky high as they entered a game that would prove to have no shortage of controversy.

It was to be another end to end encounter but, in truth, the Kinucks were looking incredibly tired. Nonetheless, as a team, they would battle on.

The word was obviously out on goal machine, Noah Swann. He would receive the attention of two and three Dragons players, every time he stepped on the ice. When Noah came off the bench, the Dragons would match up their lines to attempt to nullify the offensive threat. This tactic was effective to some extent. However, I think the fact that Swann was equally as tired as his team mates was one of the biggest things the home-rested Dragons had in their favour.

A couple of players who still seemed to have some gas in the tank were the 'French-Connection' of Jesse and Quinton Page. Both players would skate long and hard, as this game wore on. They were joined by Carson 'Teddy' Fletcher, Cody McClelland and Jared Houghton who were also able to find a little bit of extra energy to continue the battle.

In this game, the team DJ, Quinton Page was actually looking to break a goal scoring jinx, as he had done everything but score in recent games. Coach Greg Tanner had jokingly removed Page's Montreal Canadians changing room mat, in an effort to break the goal scoring curse!

This would be another thrilling game. Despite the Dragons best efforts they still couldn't stop Noah Swann from picking up two goals. Tired and out numbered, he still scores goals!

Sure enough, Kincardine's third goal came from none other than Quinton Page. Ironically, following weeks of brilliant moves where he'd stick handle his way through defenses, his break-through goal would be a simple rebound in the goalies crease. Page jammed the puck home, much to the delight of the on looking crowd. This was the first time that Noah Swann had not scored the Kinucks goal, but he did make sure that he picked up an assist!! The curse of the Montreal mat had been broken!!

The tactic of tracking Swann provided some strong shouts for potential penalties. None would come.

Unfortunately, the ever reliable Holden Stevenson would be called for a 2 minute tripping penalty. His team mates had to battle on.

The game was finely balanced at 4-3, in the third period, when Kwade Beisel covered up a puck on the line of the Kincardine net. The referee signalled for a goal and a heated debate with some of the Kinucks coaching staff ensued! The goal would stand and the Dragons had a 5-3 lead.

This is how the game would end, but the Kinucks players should take great heart from a game that could have, just as easily, gone their way.

Kwade Beisel would receive the Kincardine hardest working player award, following another excellent display in goal.
