West Grey Huskies 1 Kincardine Kinucks 8
Kincardine Kinucks 0 Mt Forest Rams 4
Minto Mad Dogs 2 Kincardine Kinucks 8
The Home Hardware sponsored Kincardine Kinucks finished up a busy week, with a record of two wins and one loss.
Firstly, the Kinucks simply overpowered the West Grey
Huskies with an 8-1 victory. Goal scorers in this game were Noah Swann (5),
Quinton Pagé (1+2), Cody McClelland (1+1) and Brock Courtney (1+1). This was the first goal of the season, for the
hard skating winger Courtney. Other
players picking up assists were Carson Fletcher (2), Jared Houghton and Holden
Stevenson.
This was obviously another excellent goal scoring display from
Swann, but equally as encouraging are the other players that continue to
contribute offensively, picking up points.
Tuesday night saw the Kinucks travel down to Mount Forest. In
a top of the table clash, the Rams were obviously keen to avenge an earlier
season defeat, suffered against the Kinucks. In truth, the kids from Kincardine
appeared unusually lethargic going down 4-0, their first league defeat of the
season. Whether it was the drive down to Mt Forest straight after school, I
suppose we’ll never know. However, that’s not taking anything from the Rams who
back checked hard and proved to be a well-organized team. The next game should prove to be intriguing..
Sunday afternoon saw the Kinucks return to home ice, at the
Davidson Centre. Coach Greg Tanner decided to continue his teams’ hockey
education, calling out positional changes throughout various areas of the team.
The air raid siren sounded, thunder clashed and ACDC pumped
out from the Davidson Centre speakers.. The Kincardine Novice Kinucks were back
on the ice..
Probably not surprisingly the team took a little while to
find their feet and their new positions. This was reflected on the scoreboard,
as the game remained tight. The Kinucks were holding onto a slender 3-2 lead in the second period, with a goal from Quinton Pagé and two from Noah Swann.
The fairly large following for the Minto Mad Dogs might have
been getting hopeful of a shock result, as their team battled admirably on the
ice. Unfortunately for them, the Kinucks were about to find their stride as
they blasted into a commanding lead, in the third. This lead, somewhat surprisingly, took
off during a Kinucks penalty kill, while the D-Man Holden Stevenson had some
alone time in the penalty box!
Goals from Cody McClelland; Sam MacTavish and Noah Swann saw
the Kinucks run out 8-2 victors. For the second consecutive weekend, Swann had
netted five goals!
Assists in this victory were attributed to Cam Fletcher (2),
Sam MacTavish (2), Cody McClelland and Caydence Gibson.
Next game sees the Kincardine Kinucks take on the Walkerton
Capitals, on a Monday night match up.
