Kincardine Bruce Telecom Bantam LL2 Looks Good in Season Opener
Kincardine Bruce Telecom Bantam LL2 opened their season at the Davidson Centre against the Hanover Falcons on Tuesday 16Oct2012.  The team had been working on passes in the attacking zone in practices leading up to the game.  The hard work paid off in a 3-1 victory, with 2 goals coming from three way passing plays in the goal mouth area.

Kincardine opened the scoring three minutes into the first period on a power play when Riley Cherrett passed the puck from behind the net to Jacob Gordon in the slot.  Jacob drew the defender and slid the puck over to Owen Fohkens whose backhand slid under the pad of the sprawling Hanover goalie.  With a minute left in the period, Kincardine scored again on a tic-tac-toe play with Fohkens finding Tanner Walker in the slot who fed the puck over to Gordon.  Gordon finished with a rising shot catching the top corner.

Hanover countered two minutes into the second with a goal of their own.  Kincardine was pinned in their end under some sustained pressure.  A turnover deep in Kincardine’s end required Alex Pande to make a few terrific saves, but the puck ended up at the side of the net on the stick of a Hanover player who made no mistake.  A minute later, Kincardine took a penalty.  With Hanover pressing, Rahul Deshpande fired the puck up to Walker who cleared the puck up centre ice off a Hanover defender.  This allowed Cherrett to jump on the loose puck, beat a defender and go in all alone, making no mistake with a fine move that left the goaltender completely out of position.  Kincardine took a 3-1 lead into the third period.

The third period saw the game see-saw back and forth until Kincardine got into penalty trouble.  Hanover pressed but Kincardine’s defense shut the door preserving the 3-1 win.
