Bruce Telecom Bantam LL2 Rights Their Aways
The Kincardine Bruce Telecom Bantam LL2 Kinucks travelled to Southampton determined to right their ways against the Saugeen Shores Storm in their second away game on Saturday 17Nov2012.  Kincardine suffered a tough loss in  their first away game and were determined to return to their winning ways.  The pre-game pep talk focussed on lessons learned in their last outing - specifically staying with the game plan and playing with determination.

The first period was very even with both teams trading good scoring opportunities.  Saugeen Shores opened the scoring with a screen shot finding the top corner  two minutes into the game. Good goaltending at both ends kept the game at 1-0 for Saugeen Shores until the last two minutes of the period when Brendan Arciszewski picked up the puck deep in Kincardine’s end, making a nice outlet pass to Owen Fohkens.  Fohkens flew down the wing and centred the puck with a nice crisp pass to Riley Cherrett in the slot who beat the Storm goalie to tie up the game.

The second period continued with Kincardine focussed on their mission.  A Saugeen Shores penalty two and half minutes in gave Kincardine another opportunity with Fohkens taking full advantage.  A breakaway ended with a shot in the top glove corner for Kincardine’s second goal.  Another Saugeen Shores penalty four minutes later allowed Kincardine to add to their lead, with Cherrett finding the back of the net on the power play.  Kincardine looked to be in control of the game and started to hang back.  With the clock counting down the last seconds of the period, a Storm player travelled the length of the ice, finding the five hole with a buzzer beater.  The period ended with Kincardine heading into the break up 2-1 but shaken.

Coach Fohkens went over the game plan between periods, firing Kincardine up to once again play with determination.  Twenty-three seconds into the third period, Hogan Allen kept the puck alive getting it to Fohkens down low who found the back of the net.  Kincardine was now back in control of the game.  More penalty trouble kept Saugeen Shores in their end, resulting in Kincardine’s best period.  With just less than 2 minutes left, Cherrett hit Fohkens up the middle and the big guy didn’t disappoint completing the hat trick.  Kincardine iced the cake when Tanner Walker chipped the puck into the slot and Jacob Gordon banked a shot off a Saugeen Shores defender into the net to cap off Kincardine’s first road win, 6-2.
